If you are interested in helping your community and want to join our company, download the form at the bottom of the page and mail to the company or bring it to a monthly meeting (along with $10.00 in dues). The monthly Regular Membership meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7:30 pm.

There are plenty of positions available and many ways to help protect our community. When you become a member of our company, we will train you to be a Firefighter, Water Rescue Tech., Fire Police and/or many other emergency related skills you may wish to be involved in. If you are not interested in fighting fires or responding to calls, we can still use your help with many other tasks that are performed everyday behind the scenes such as administrative duties and fund-raising; Both of which are equally as important to our organization. Teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 may join as a Junior member and start preparing now for a promising future in the fire service. Whatever you may be interested in, we have a place for you here at the Goodwill Fire Co #1, Jacobus.

There are yearly membership dues of $10.00 that are due prior to being voted in as a member of our company. A work permit must also accompany the application and $10 dues for minors under the age of 18. Once your application is received, someone will contact you and let you know what the next step is. Until then, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact the station or any one of our officers. Thank you for your interest in being a member of the Goodwill Fire Co #1, Jacobus.

Child Abuse History Clearance

Beginning July 1, 2015 all adults applying for an unpaid position as a volunteer that is in direct contact with any child (under age 18) must have a Child Abuse History Clearance completed from the Department of Human Services. Click here to go to the PA CWIS website. The Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance no longer has a cost.

FBI Criminal Background Check

In addition, if the volunteer has not lived in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for at least 10 years, that person must complete a fingerprint based federal criminal history through the Pennsylvania State Police or authorized agent. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check costs $27.50 through the Department of Human Services. This will be refunded by the department upon approval. The application can be found here.

How do I obtain my clearances?

The Child Abuse, PSP and FBI clearances can all be applied and paid for electronically. The FBI clearance also requires a fingerprint submission. All necessary instructions and links to apply for these clearances can be found here.

Do I need to renew my clearances?

These checks are to be renewed every 36 months (or 3 years). Individuals are responsible for their own clearance and must submit a copy of the approved letter to the department.
