Current Apparatus

1. 1993 Ford F-350 Brush Truck -this unit's designation is Brush 18 / QRS 18. This unit is our primary QRS vehicle and also is typically the first unit to respond to motor vehicle crashes (with, without or with unknown injuries). It also, obviously, responds to all types of brush, woods and rubbish fires. This unit is also the first unit to respond to all water and ice rescue related calls because it pulls the boat. This unit carries a variety of equipment from hand tools for woods related fires, hand tools for motor vehicle crashes, water/ice rescue equipment and BLS equipment including an AED.

2. 2003 American Lafrance Engine - this unit's designation is Engine 18-1. This was purchased from Mount Pleasant Twp Fire Department (http://www.mtpleasanttwpvfc.org/) in Hickory, Pennsylvania in March of 2006 to replace our old 1981 American Lafrance Engine. The engine has a 1250 gallon waer tank and two 30 gallon foam tanks and a 2000 gpm pump and a Hale Fowm Master System. It carries an assortment of rescue tools, spill equipment and water/ice rescue equipment and has an 8 man enclosed cab. This is our primary response unit in our district for all calls except brush and medical calls. It is the support unit for brush calls and the reserve unit for medical calls.

3. 1981/1997 American LaFrance Engine - this unit's designation is Engine 18-2. This unit is retired FDNY Engine 222 and was completely remanufactured after we purchased it and was re-titled as a 1997 Engine. This unit has a 1250 gallon tank and a 1250 gpm pump and it carries a large assortment of hand tools primarily for fire suppression and it has a 6 man enclosed cab. It is the secondary response unit for all types of structure related fires and is our primary unit for transfer assignments and mutual aid.

5. Next is our inflatable rescue boat - this unit's designation is Boat 18. It is kept inflated, trailered and ready for use. It is towed by Brush 18.

Past Apparatus

 

 

1. 1981 American LaFrance Engine - this unit's designation was Engine 18-1 and was replaced in 2006 with the current Engine 18-1. This unit was retired FDNY Engine 65 and was refurbished after we purchased it. The engine had a 500 gallon tank and a 1250 gpm pump and carried an assortment of rescue hand tools, spill equipment and water/ice rescue equipment and was a 6 man enclosed cab. The first picture here is of retired engine 65 when we bought it.

2. This picture is of our department before we went to the lime colored apparatus. Here is our past Engine 18-1, Engine 18-2 and the Model T Hand Pumper. Both of the Engines were replaced with the current engines that we now utilize.

1. 1919 Model-T Hand pumper. This was originally a hand pumper owned by the department that was drawn by hand and then by horse and wagon. It was then mounted onto a new Model-T chasis in 1919. This piece is still a part of our department and is kept on display at the York County Fire Museum.
