York Twp - Rollover Crash - 01/24/2006

On the morning of Tuesday Jan. 24th, we were dispatched at approx 0515 hours for a MVC with injuries with a vehicle rolled over and entrapment. Chief 18-1 arrived on the scene and found what you see in the pics below, a Ford Explorer Sport Trak on its side with a pole, wires and a transformer down around the vehicle. The occupant was still in the vehicle moving around stating that she was uninjured and that she just couldn't get out. Brush 18 and Engine 19-2 (soon to be Rescue 19) responded on the call along with Ambulances 18 and 13 and Medic 97. Crews carefully stabilized vehicle enough to assist the victim out the sunroof. Pt walked to the ambulance and eventually refused transport to the hospital. Crews waited on scene for the next approx hour until Met-Ed arrived and secured the pole.

Springfield Twp - Multiple Alarm Structure Fire - 01/10/2006

On January 10th, we responded to two different multiple alarm fires to assist Loganivlle Station 63 at the Adhesive Research Plant in Springfield Twp. The first fire started around 1200 hours and went to two alarms and we responded with both of our engines and the fire was contained to the room of origin. Later that evening around 2000 hours, we were recalled for both of our engines again as part of a mulitple alarm call to assist in what became an all night fire. As you can see in the pictures, all of the chemicals that were in the building where the fire was stopped earlier had become consumed and were now involved in an enormous fire. Crews were on the scene the majority of the night. We are very happy to say that with all of the firefighters and equipment on the scene and the large volume of fire involved, there was no serious injury or death. There were many departments on scene from both PA and MD working with people that have never seen before and they still held true to the mission of life safety and worked very well together. A job very well done by everybody involved. There will be more pcitures added once we get them back.

York Twp - Double Entrapment Crash - 01/06/2006

Our first call for the year was a reported motor vehicle crash with a vehicle rolled over with double entrapment at Iron Stone Hill Road and Hess Farm Road in York Township. Chief 18-1 responded and requested a 2nd rescue and a 3rd & 4th BLS and a 2nd ALS. County then advised that a first party caller reports no injuries and no entrapment, only confinement in the vehicle that rolled over. The 2nd rescue was held but the EMS units were continued until confirmed. Once on scene, there was a 2 vehicle crash with a truck on its side with to occupants still in vehicle and uninjured. E19-2 reposnded to assist with rescue ops. The roof was flapped open and the 2 occupants were assisted out. All occupants eventually refused treatment.
